Welcome and thank you for your interest in volunteering at the COLCOA French Film Festival's 2021 edition! COLCOA French Film Festival is looking for volunteers to assist in a variety of roles including Box Office, Merchandise, Theatre Operations, Photography, Videography, PR, Social Media, and more! You can click on the categories below and read a description of each position. Help us celebrate French cinema at this year's festival November 1-7, 2021, at the Directors Guild of America.

The COLCOA staff appreciates your hard work, dedication, and enthusiasm. We require all volunteers to commit to at least 8 hours of volunteering for COLCOA and participate in any required training.
Please make a note of your FestiCiné log-in as you will use this site to approve/decline and view shifts. You can also make changes on your profile, notes, choices, and availabilities, at any point, even after submission. On the application, you can select as many areas where you would like to volunteer. On the "My Personal Profile" page (the first page of the application), you can let us know your order of preference of these positions under the area labeled "Remarks". On that same page, you will also be able to let us know any relevant experience you have and any other useful information. You MUST also upload proof of your Vaccination on this page.
Shifts are typically separated by Morning, Afternoon, and Evening. Please leave the "Night" section blank when selecting areas of availability. Only choose from Morning, Afternoon, and Evening. Some positions can start as early as 8:30am and some end as late as 11:00pm. Shift times can vary, and we are flexible with Volunteers' hours.
Volunteers will be notified via email of their approved application. Please add ColcoaFestVolunteers@gmail.com to your approved contacts as sometimes emails from our account initially go to Spam. If you have not received an email from us by October 15th, please check your Spam/Junk folders. If your availability changes at any time prior to shifts being assigned, you can log in to FestiCiné to update your availability. Once shifts have been assigned, Volunteers will return to FestiCiné to accept or decline the assigned shifts.
New and returning volunteers assigned to a new team are required to attend the volunteer Orientation on Saturday, October 30, 2021. While orientation is extremely critical, if for any reason you cannot attend, please let the Volunteer Coordinator know, and we will try to make other arrangements.
We count on you to arrive 10 minutes early and be ready to contribute throughout your volunteer shift. If for any reason you cannot arrive on time or need to cancel your shift, please notify the Volunteer Coordinator at least two hours prior to your shift. This will allow time to find a replacement. Repeat absences will result in the revocation of your volunteer badge and privileges.
For your very first shift at the DGA, please check in at least 20 minutes prior to your scheduled shift. Upon arrival, check in at the Volunteer base located behind the Box Office to get your volunteer badge.
VACCINATIONS, TESTING, AND MASKS
COLCOA French Film Festival is requiring all employees, volunteers, and guests to be vaccinated for COVID-19. Proof of vaccination in the form of a vaccination card or digital copy will be mandatory. Masks will be required at all times. There will be designated areas where you can take off your mask while eating and drinking. We will be Covid testing Volunteers during Orientation. For those who cannot attend Orientation, testing will be TBD.
CODE OF CONDUCT
When you’re on-duty, be a positive, professional and conscientious representative of COLCOA. Anyone seeking autographs, taking photographs, self-promoting or exhibiting overt negativity while on duty will have his/her badge taken away and will be escorted off-site immediately. This festival is supported by corporate sponsorship, so please keep any opinions about our sponsors to yourself; you never know who might be standing next to you. Once off-duty, you may do as you wish—as long as you are not wearing your volunteer badge.
However, if a volunteer is off-duty and is a problem to festival operations, security or the law, volunteer privileges are likely to be lost as a result.
We don't have any specific dress code for volunteers other than no shorts, no flip-flops, and no offensive graphic t-shirts.
All volunteers will get one volunteer badge upon check-in of their first shift to keep throughout the festival. For identification and security purposes, all on-duty volunteers are required to visibly wear their badges. Conversely, all off-duty volunteers are to keep their badges concealed. Lost badges WILL NOT be replaced. At the discretion of COLCOA management, badge privileges may be amended at any time and badges themselves may be confiscated. In the event of a volunteer being stripped of his or her badge—most likely for conduct infractions—that volunteer will be escorted off-site with an explanation and clear understanding for such actions.
To the best of your ability, leave personal effects at home or locked away and hidden in your vehicle. Arrive to your shift unencumbered from big purses, bags, laptops, etc. COLCOA has no area to keep these items if you show up with them and any lost, stolen or damaged items are your own responsibility. It’s best to leave inessential items at home.
TO SHOW OUR APPRECIATION FOR YOUR CONTRIBUTIONS
Volunteers are able to attend screenings that occur outside their shift times providing availability.
Some screenings fill up and sometimes even the pass holders are turned away, so please be mindful of theater operations and check out the next film on your list.
Light snacks and beverages will be provided sporadically. However, plan to be responsible for your own nutritional needs.

PARKING DURING COLCOA
There is limited free parking at the DGA ( the parking entrance is on Hayworth Avenue). COLCOA will reimburse your parking if you have to park in the approved lot across the street. More info will be given during Orientation.

Our Box Office volunteers will provide top-notch customer service to all COLCOA French Film Festival attendees while performing ticket sales, handling will call, and answering customer questions. Box Office Volunteers will be trained on our ticketing system and will need to be able to use iPads to complete transactions.
For Opening Night on Monday, November 1st, guests are invite-only so we will not have our main Box Office open. Instead, we need volunteers to check-in our special guests upon entry to the DGA.
Our Merchandise Volunteers will be selling all things COLCOA at our very own Boutique inside the DGA Lobby next to the Box Office. We need extremely upbeat, talkative, tech savvy people as our volunteers will need to chat with guests, answer questions, and make transactions on our iPad sales system.
Theatre Ops Volunteers will greet guests, maintain line flow, and scan tickets for guest entry into film screenings. They will also assist in blocking seats for sponsors and VIP guests prior to screenings, disbursing ballots, and helping manage vote count.
Our PR Volunteers will assist our Publicity Manager in managing talent and coordinating with the Press for our Opening Night Red Carpet Event.

Our Social Media Volunteers will assist our Social Media Manger in photographing/recording Live Q&As, red carpets, and other events happening throughout the festival.
We need Volunteers who are experienced Videographers to film during our Live Q&A's and other events to put on our YouTube Channel and various other Festival outlets. Please list experience in the profile section of the Volunteer form.

Our Covid Vaccine Check Volunteers will be placed at the entrance to the DGA welcoming guests and checking their proof of vaccination and matching the name to their photo ID. Proof of Vaccination can be a physical Vaccine Card or an acceptable digital form. Once vaccination status has been determined and temperature has been checked, the guest will receive a wristband good for re-entry for that day.
Volunteers to assist in the unloading and setting up at the DGA prior to the festival and tearing down post-festival.
This position is to assist in the unloading of wine deliveries at the DGA Theatre on Friday, October 29th. We need 2 strong individuals to help unload the vans. The timing of this shift will be released closer to the date.
We need a few volunteers to help organize passes and lanyards for passholders and fill giftbags. This will take place after the Orientation on Saturday, October 30th.
These Volunteers will assist in setting up for Opening Night throughout the day on Monday, November 1st. This may include moving boxes, filling gift bags, and other miscellaneous tasks.
